I'm Growing! And So Is My Wardrobe!

Have I told you guys about my undying love for Ross?

Their racks are full of beautiful, and very professional looking, clothes. When I go, it's like everywhere I look I see something that I want to try on. Erica and I ventured out today, and Ross was our destination.

I tried on a total of 8 + 8 + 6 (they only allow you to bring in 8 items at a time). I'm not very good at math, but I'm pretty sure that adds up to 22. Don't worry, I only ended up buying 5 of them.

Good news/bad news: Ross is within walking distance from our apartment. We live right behind it! Good for my side of the closet, but bad for our debit card... Wait, no it's not! Because Ross is so stinkin' inexpensive.

What would have cost around $103 at the mall only cost me $39 at Ross. Like I said, I'm no math whiz, but that's 64 dollars in savings! I love good deals! They are my one true love (besides John).

Extra good news: I actually fit in the majority of the clothes I tried on! No I haven't grown up (taller), but I have grown outwards (fatter). Shopping trips use to disappoint me. I was such I tiny little twig. I'd find all these adorable clothes, and get to the dressing rooms only to find out that just about every one was loose somewhere. Not so anymore. Today I tried on a skirt in size one and I could barely get it past my hips! Happy day.

The shirt I'm wearing in the picture above is one of my favorites from todays shopping trip. It is SO comfy! My new rule is that I can't buy anything that isn't professional slash older looking. Since I'm so small, I have to start wearing big girl clothes so that people start taking me seriously. :)

Do you think I made a good choice?

Honeymooners

Yesterday morning I woke up with a very stressed out body. I had three big deadlines for finals, and I wasn't sure that I'd be able to get it all done. I grumbled to myself as I opened my computer (after enjoying a morning bowl of Cheerios, which to my astonishment I enjoyed without sugar) and something was different... All of my applications were minimized, I didn't remember doing that... And then I noticed my desktop picture changed! I definitely didn't remember changing that...

John, aka my little sweetster, decided to surprise me by changing my desktop background to a slideshow of pictures from our honeymoon. It lifted my mood and brought me back to a time in our lives that was full of love, fun, and new experiences.

I decided that I love being married. Every day is an adventure. Especially because I caught myself such an amazing husband.

More pictures from our romantic getaway to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico:

We loved watching the sun set on the beach.

We went parasailing!

We took long walks on the beach.

We found fish with permanent evil looking faces.

And we went snorkeling! Haha. Oh my snorkel pictures...

Don't I look ridiculous in that gear? It makes me laugh every time.

Moral of the Story: I love John.

Oh the Deliciousness of Bacon

Okay, this meal was soooo delicious. You know you want some. I mean seriously. Just look at it.

This is one of our favorite meals, because the chicken always has sooo much flavor, none of that dry stuff.

I made it last night (John cut and steamed the potatoes), and we were in food heaven as we ate.

Oh you want the recipe? Okay, here it is:

Bacon & Rosemary Chicken (Courtesy of Simple & Delicious)
  • 4 Chicken Breasts
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 5 bacon strips, chopped
  • 1 Tbsp. butter
  • 4 garlic cloves, thinly sliced/minced
  • 1 Tbsp. minced fresh rosemary, or 1 tsp. dried rosemary, crushed
  • 1/8 tsp. crushed red pepper flakes
  • 1 cup reduced-sodium chicken broth
  • 2 Tbsp. lemon juice
Flatten chicken breasts to an even thickness; sprinkle with salt and pepper. Place flour in a large resealable plastic bag. Add chicken breasts, one at a time, and shake to coat.

In a large skillet, cook bacon over medium heat until crisp. Remove to a paper towel with a slotted spoon; drain, reserving 2 Tbsp. drippings. cook chicken in butter and reserved drippings for 4-6 minutes on each side or until meat thermometer reads 170. Remove and keep warm.

Add the garlic, rosemary, and pepper flakes to the skillet; cook for 1 minute. Add broth and lemon juice; bring to a boil. Cook until liquid is reduced by half. Return chicken and bacon to skillet, heat through.

My Red Potatoes Recipe (courtesy of yours truly)
  • Red Potatoes halved or in fourths
  • A Scoop of Sour Cream
  • A dash of Garlic Powder
  • A few dashes of parsley
  • Some butter
Boil or steam the potatoes, when they are nice and soft, drain them and put them in a bowl. Add butter, sour cream, garlic powder, and parsley. Mix ingredients around and then enjoy!

Sorry, I don't have specific measurements, just put in however much you think you'll like.

And don't forget to enjoy it with an IBC Cream Soda! :)

Hey readers, I have a quick question for you: have any of you actually tried any of the recipes I've put up? If so, which one? Was it good??

Plant Killer!

I have the opposite of what some people call a "green thumb." Instead of keeping plants alive, I somehow always manage to kill them. Remember those pretty pictures I took of tulips a couple days ago? [see pictures of them by clicking here] Well they are starting to shrivel up and die. Not cool.

Once I kept a plant half alive for almost a year!

Someday I want to have a garden, because fresh fruits and veggies are so yummy. And probably more nutritious. But I'm afraid that I'll spend all this time planting and watering, and in the end, nothing will grow... Because I am cursed. I have a red thumb instead of a green one.

Here are some more pictures [click to enlarge]:

P.s. I'm pregnant.

P.p.s. April Fools!
